Lezama Demoliciones, a Basque company belonging to the ICEBERG consortium, has been awarded the AEDED Prize for the Best Demolition Job 2020, for its work in the dismantling and demolition of the former Foix thermal power plant (Cubelles, Barcelona), owned by Endesa and closed in 2015. A total volume of 12,000 m3 of construction and demolition waste (CDW) was generated during the dismantling of the power plant.
For over 8 years, the Spanish Demolition, Decontamination, Cutting and Perforation Association has held the annual AEDED Prizes. The aim is to raise awareness about the work of companies specialising in demolition, decontamination, cutting and perforation, along with promoting the most outstanding work and products in these specialist activities and showcasing the techniques, equipment and best practices used.
In the ICEBERG project, Lezama Demoliciones will provide its experience and expertise, by helping to develop inverse logistic support tools and validating all the solutions in a local case study. One of the 6 case studies envisaged in the project will be led from the Basque Country.
