“The aim is to promote industrialised, digital and socially but also environmentally responsible building”

TECNALIA receives the AEDAS Homes Award for the best digitalisation project and technological development for the BIM4DW web tool

REBUILD, the largest trade fair in Southern Europe, focused on the building sector and its value chain, awarded in the latest edition 2023, the digital tool BIM4DW by TECNALIA, developed and optimized in the framework of the European project, ICEBERG.

TECNALIA Research & Innovation is developing different systems and platforms of traceability of interconnected information along the building value chain, under approaches of holistic life cycling.

In current contexts, where there is a lack of information on the built assets, demolition companies start demanding agile solutions that allow inventorying the quantity and quality of material resources embedded in buildings or infrastructures, as well as automatizing the planning and assessment of the cost and environmental impacts of the derived product and resources management.

BIM4DW provides:

  • Rapid and feasible digital modelling of the building at the end of its service life (<2 €/m2 of built surface).
  • Precise and rapid quantification of demolition waste (deviation less than 20%).
  • Automated planification of demolition tasks driven by circular economy and decarbonisation criteria and priorities.

The company Demoliciones LEZAMA has already customized that tool in the framework of its demolition business model. Together other European demolition companies, they are contributing to validating the efficiency of this innovative tool.
